125 years
The Best Part

A lot has happened since our company was founded in 1899. Come with us on a journey through our history: from wooden products and forged items to door and gate systems and our own production of TA-Aluform® trapezoidal and corrugated sheets - discover for yourself!

The beginnings of Tacke + Lindemann

In 1899, Bruno Tacke and Carl Lindemann founded a hardware store in a prime location in Dortmund's city center. At the beginning, they offered everything that the craftsmen of the time needed for their work on Kuckelke: Screws, nuts, chains, fittings and tools. They also sold forged items and wooden goods for carpenters and private individuals.

Coffin furnishings were also a popular part of the range at the beginning of the 20th century. At this time, the construction of coffins, as well as the funerals themselves, were still carried out by carpenters, who could then obtain their materials for this work from Tacke + Lindemann .

New ways

Over the last 125 years, Tacke + Lindemann has constantly changed and broken new ground. In 1965, Jürgen Tacke decided to stock perforated sheets. This not only gave Tacke + Lindemann a decisive competitive advantage, but also laid the foundation for today's special range tailored to the requirements of industrial insulators.

At the turn of the millennium, Daniel Tacke gradually ended the once classic hardware business, which was aimed at joineries and private individuals, in favor of a special range of door and gate systems.

Reaching the goal together

Jürgen Tacke made the decision to keep perforated sheets in stock after he recognized the need for quickly available sheets during customer visits. A decision made with and for the customer. The expansion of our range of locking technologies is also based on such an exchange:

Tacke + Lindemann developed the customized special closure 2/55/60 F in cooperation with a major industrial customer. A milestone and an innovation for us that is now standard in the field of closure technologies.

We also have a long-standing cooperation with the surrounding municipalities, through which we have been able to experience and help shape the development of Dortmund's schools, hospitals and many other public buildings.

Full throttle into the future

The development of Tacke + Lindemann continues steadily. We are now much more than just a metal and fittings dealer.

With the establishment of the Metal Service Center, we can implement tailor-made solutions for our customers and manufacture high-quality TA-Aluform® trapezoidal and corrugated sheets in our own production facilities. The associated metal warehouse also enables us to supply customers with standard products quickly.

At the same time, we have developed over the years into a specialist for door and gate systems in industrial construction. In addition to a carefully selected range of door locking technology, door automation, locking systems and escape and rescue route technology, our dedicated project consulting is at the heart of our company. Here we support our customers holistically with our expertise in the planning and technical implementation of their door and gate solutions.

Our story.
Your success.

125 years. 4 generations.

Bruno Tacke + Carl Lindemann
The founders of Tacke + Lindemann decided to set up their hardware store together in 1899. Their reliable nature and their instinct for the needs of their customers allowed their young business to grow quickly. The two also maintained a close friendship in their private lives.
August Tacke
After completing his apprenticeship in Paderborn, August Tacke joined his father's company in 1925. After his father's unexpected death, he took over the management of the company in 1936 and led it through the Second World War and the difficult post-war period. With creativity and fighting spirit, he ensured the company's survival - even if a bunker and a bowling alley had to be used as business premises in between.
Jürgen Tacke
In 1961, Jürgen Tacke, son of August Tacke, joined the company immediately after completing his apprenticeship and quickly took on responsibility. During his time in sales, he repeatedly found innovative solutions for our customers and thus started the journey from Tacke + Lindemann towards becoming a modern metal trader. He continues to support the company with his expertise to this day.
Daniel Tacke
In 2000, Daniel Tacke, the 4th generation, joins the family business. Like his father, he too gets to know the company and its customers through his intensive time in sales. Under his management, not only are the business and warehouse premises expanded, but Metal Service Center is also set up with its own recoiling lines and a slitting and cut-to-length line, and the contract business in the door and gate sector is strengthened. In 2023, the in-house production of profiled sheets under the TA-Aluform® brand is successfully introduced and the Tacke + Lindemann brand is given a new look.
