The project demonstrates that a stunning appearance is not at odds with high-quality, durable materials.

Some buildings simply serve their purpose. Others define an entire landscape. The Plange Mill in the industrial port of Neuss undoubtedly falls into the second category.
Even from a distance, the striking building catches everyone’s eye. With its vibrant orange hue, the newly designed facade stands out facade from its industrial surroundings and adds a bold touch to the industrial harbor. The colour chosen deliberately: it evokes ripe grain, the raw material that has been at the heart of this family-owned business for generations.
At first glance, the facade tells facade story of Plange Mühle. It blends tradition with modernity and brings the company’s identity to life. A functional production site is transformed into a landmark with high name recognition.
The heart of the company—the mill—is the space where grain is ground into high-quality flour in accordance with the strictest purity standards and regulations. It is a space where there are no compromises when it comes to quality. This commitment to consistently delivering the highest quality runs like a common thread through Plange Mühle’s 250-year history and extends far beyond the mill’s interior.
And that was precisely the special challenge of the project. The silos and production halls tower far above the surrounding buildings and are exposed to the elements without any protection. A rusty or faded facade contradict the company’s own quality standards even from a distance.
With TA-Protect®, Plange Mühle found exactly the right solution. Thanks to corrosion protection class C3, UV classificationRUV5, and Qualicoat Class 3, the coating system meets even the highest standards for durability and color brilliance.
Quality was also a key factor in the selection of profiled sheets. With a facade area of approximately 5,000 m², it is not only the colour the visual impact, but also the profile geometry. Each profile creates a different lighting effect and alters the perception of large surfaces.
For the Plange Mill, the TA-Aluform® 40/167 trapezoidal Aluminium profile was selected. Its clean, understated lines allow the bold color scheme to take center stage facade lending the facade a timeless elegance. The profiled sheets were produced on Tacke + Lindemann in-house roll forming lines Tacke + Lindemann Dortmund. This ensured a consistently high standard of quality throughout the entire project.
Combined with the TA-Protect® surface in vibrant orange, this resulted in a facade solution that will continue to vividly reflect Plange Mühle’s commitment to quality for many years to come.
